I like houses that aren't centered on the lot. Centered may be most in keeping with neighboring house but I think most architects, builders, and owners don't even try. This one faces an empty lot so it's doomed to be a tear down.
It has everything I like. Here is the approach from the west. The brick pillars and driveway belong to the house next door. It's a modest Georgian with it's gable end facing the street. The low key fence frames house and garden. The gravel driveway approaches the house so that there is no hill climb put your groceries away.
The didewalk changes to stepping stones.
A sheltering porch.
I hope you appreciate the drivers of transit buses

Interesting post! So many houses I see are in Buckhead neighborhoods, and are centered on the lot. The house in this post reminds me of houses in Washington DC.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to exploring your blog; your neck of the woods is virtually unexplored territory for me despite being less than 30 minutes away. Isn't Atlanta a great city?
