GO WATCH - Live Giant Mural Painting This Week - Fahamu Pecou, Fabian Williams, Joe Dreher Paint MARTA

I love to see artists at work.  This week we can. They started Saturday June 4 and have the lifts for eight days but will it take that long?

I don't think they are painting Sunday the 5th so maybe Monday.

A routine high altitude tape pass became a reenactment.

Joe Dreher Midnight-Live-Mural-Painting for "House Portraits - House Painters - Vernacular Cracker"

I'm flabbergasted, honored, and grateful but obviously not speechless. 

Am I the last person to be the subject of a giant mural? If you don't have yours yet, please call Joe Dreher for all your mural needs and do request William Mize as co-muralist.


At 1:30 a.m. Joe (black shirt) and William (white shirt) took a hiatus to see what it looks like in daylight.

Joe and assistants buffed it in the rain.


I kind-of like it white.


Joe set up the iPad, projector, ladder, and extension cord across the street. Big thanks to Listen Up Audiobooks for the window and the electricity.



The projection began at dusk.


Joe went at it with a ladder and one of those wide-body flat pencils.


Up, trace, down, ladder-move, up, repeat.


Joe dotted my eye.


Then the black paint.


That's my glasses.


Joe drew a crowd too. About midnight William Mize (white T-shirt) showed up to assist. East Atlanta came alive at midnight.


All the while Joe took pictures of spectators for his in-house installation. Come to the opening to see if you are in the show.


After a midnight snack at the Midway, Joe and William nearly finished it.


They want to see in daylight.

Come to the opening, then see at your leisure until May 23. Maybe we'll have a closing party too.
