Teardown Week 2

I'm participating in my 7th Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch! Welcome. Last week they got started.

From last week:
P9100870-AxlR-NorthFacade-From-Street

This week they removed the windows, kitchen, awnings and I don't know what else. The curtains are still up. They put up the silt fence and the post for temporary electric service.

P9200923-1261-Front-9-20-09

Next week they will remove the big tree in front and a couple more in the back. They are all overgrown, more dangerous then beautiful, certainly in the way of the new house. From last week:

P9100868-AxlR-NorthFacade-From-Street-NWCorner

At the end of this week, weather permitting, the house will be gone.

Thanks to Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch.

  4. Is this what we call progress? Out with the old, in with the new. Hate to see the trees go!

  5. Did they remove the windows before demolishing the house for a reason? Do you think they are trying to salvage parts of the house?

It's so interesting to watch residential renovation/construction projects. I've been keeping an eye on one a couple blocks over. It makes a good destination for walking dogs.

  7. I asked the supervisor why they removed the windows. He said that windows of the era could have asbestos i the glazing.

  8. Pam, I'm with you.

Kathleen, they never seem to salvage anything. At the house next door to me, they even tore up the city garbage can and recycling bin and put them in a dumpster. This process is happening all over my neighborhood and these huge ugly cheap monster houses that don't fit in at all are put in. It sucks. I think Terry and I live in the same neighborhood. Terry, is this on Amsterdam?
